we're about to embark on a journey together we're going to learn about BYOD through a series of short videos but the bigger journey is BYOD it's so what is BYOD BYOD simply stands for bring your own device now I know what you're thinking until now it was forbidden to bring a device to school so what's changed why are we doing to explain why I'm going to have to give you a bit of a reality check did you know that your education could be preparing you for a job that can even exist yet you might be required to use technologies that haven't yet been invented in order to solve problems that we don't even know our problem we live in a world where technology is advancing rapidly yet we've been powering off to come to school can you see the disconnect we can see it too and we want to make sure that all of you are prepared for the future so we're about to take a leap a leap in the world that might be a bit unfamiliar for some of us and for others it might feel like we're right at home whichever category you fit into are both teachers and students we're going to help you feel prepared through a series of short videos while we ask that you keep these things find this is new for all of us so all we need to do is just try don't be afraid to make mistakes just try don't feel like you have to do everything all at once take it slow try one thing and learn to do it well and then move on to doing there will be challenges along the way so we all have to be problem solvers we have to figure out how to make this successful school we are all a team and we're in this together we need to help each other that means that students might help teachers and teachers help students while students might help other students and teachers my help other teachers and finally let's get excited we're opening a door to a whole new world of possibilities a world full of creativity collaboration critical thinking and easier communicate this has the potential to make our school even better to make learning even more meaningful and more engaging so let's get started shall we we need to prepare ourselves to bring our devices the next video will provide you with information about the device guidelines for the BYOD program before moving on to the next video we recommend that you have a class discussion some questions that you may want to ask are how often do you use a divining at home what do you feel comfortable doing with your device what do you think you know about using devices in school what do you want to know about using license and school open communication is essential for the success of the BYOD now let's get started on our journey and let's look forward to all the new things we'll learn along the way
