Welcome to Fourth Grade!

     Hi, my name is Kim Timmerman, and I have been a teacher at Hawthorne for 28 years.  I can truly say that I love fourth grade and fourth graders!  I am originally from Oakland, California, and I am a UCLA alumnus. I have two sons, Evan and Ryan.  Evan is a BHHS graduate and a mechanical engineer, working in LA, and Ryan is a sophomore in college.  I love to travel, and I love to read.  All my students know that my favorite children's author is Kate DiCamillo.

Fourth grade is a great year of independence. I strive to teach my students the skills necessary to become independent thinkers and problem-solvers who not only take responsibility for their own learning but also enjoy the journey.  I would love for my students to leave my classroom having gained a lifelong love of reading.
