Katie McKernan- Special Education

Welcome to preschool I am excited to be teaching at Beverly Hills Unified School District as part of the Hawthorne team. 

I was born and raised in California. I knew I wanted to teach when I was in kindergarten and my passion continues to grow. I received my teaching credential from California State University of Fullerton in Early Childhood Special Education where I shortly after began my teaching journey in Pasadena. 

My favorite thing about teaching is being granted a position to witness student’s victories and breakthroughs throughout the year. I feel extremely confident in my ability regarding data collection and creating IEP goals for students in an ECSE setting. Through numerous experiences in the classroom, I have learned that teaching is not just imparting curriculum amongst our students; it is being a mentor for so many children.
