Elementary Art- Mrs. Federman
Greetings! My name is Mrs. Federman and I have been teaching Elementary Art in BHUSD since 1997 (with a few years off to be at home with my children). In addition to teaching Visual Art, I have designed and painted 6 murals across three campuses in BHUSD (two of which were designed and completed with students). I have seen our Visual Arts Program flourish in my many years here. Our Arts program has recently been recognized by the State of California as an Exemplary Arts Program, and our students have also recently won local and state awards from CAEA (California Art Education Association).
Our K-5 Art program consists of both group and individual projects, and includes a wide variety of media. We explore drawing/painting, three-dimensional art, digital media, fiber arts, and various printmaking and surface design techniques. We develop perceptual skills in students and explore Art as a means of storytelling/social commentary
Looking at Art through History and Culture is a significant part of the Visual Art Program. From Ancient Art to Contemporary Art, we learn from the masters and apply the skills and knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Art to our own works.
