Welcome! I am starting my 27TH year of teaching. This is my 20th year teaching at Hawthorne and my 18th year teaching second grade. I also taught 4th grade here at Hawthorne many years ago. I started my career in Corona del Mar. There, I taught for two years. I taught third grade and sixth grade. Next, I taught for five years at Newport Elementary. There I taught first grade for one year and fifth grade for four years. My school was right on the beach. Sometimes, we would see a pod of dolphins swim by. For P.E., I would take my class on a beach run, in the wet sand, to the Newport Beach pier. It was so much fun. I moved up to Los Angeles in 1997 after I married my husband. We have three children and a Black Lab named Cooper. Reid is 16 and is a junior in high school. He plays water poloswims and loves robotics. Reagan is 14 and loves water polo, swimming, reading and drawing. She will be a freshman in high school this year. You will see a lot of her artwork in the classroom. She drew all the pyramid blocks for the class that your child will be making into a book this year. I also have an 10 year old son named Aidan. He is in 5th grade and loves to play soccer. In my free time, which isn't much, I like to read, swim, and be with my family. I love to teach and I am excited about this new school year.
